One Night in Room 100

The other week, Blackbook launched yet another spin-off magazine called ROOM 100, and yours truly was at the very fabulous launch party at the Thompson Hotel. Amongst the star studded dark corners were Lydia Hearst, Theodora Richards, Adam Brody, and Stokes member (turned guest DJ for the night) Albert Hammond Jr., just to name a few.

After a few drinks from the open bar, I have to say that I started to feel like a star myself.. I tried to initiate a game of “Hit on the Stroke” with my friends, but unfortunately, I was the only person playing the game. After several failed attempts to get him to add Madonna into his DJ set, he finally appeased my musical requests with a little bit of Weezer from the Pinkerton Album.

Rivers Cuomo was belting his heart out to a lover across the sea when I locked eyes with my long time love from the OC: Adam Brody. There he was in full glory, Vans and all, sitting at a table with a group of friends just a few feet from me. I casually made my way across the dance floor and into the alcove that he was sitting. Given, I was pretty wasted at this point, but I swear that we shared some pretty intense moments. Just as I gathered my courage to go talk to him, he and his friends got up to leave. That’s the moment that I morphed from a cool, confident 23 year old into a 12 year old girl with braces. I ran down the stairs to the lobby after Adam and entourage. In the end, I got the obligatory cell phone picture with him and the thrill of speaking with him.

All in all, the party was a hit, the magazine was full of some interesting stories, and I got a pretty good work out from dancing on a few tables. So run out and get the introductory issue of Room 100, and Albert, if you’re reading this, you owe me a Guinness!
